About Monique

Monique Choy AE is a writer and editor with over 20 years’ experience in creating compelling content to hook readers, convey clear messages and tell great stories.

She has edited hundreds of publications, and written books, websites and articles on topics ranging from radiation detection to Tibetan symbolism, food safety legislation to wild swimming.

She has been an author on dozens of travel guidebooks for Lonely Planet, covering destinations including Tibet, Philippines, India, Australia and New Zealand, and the 2019 National Geographic award-winning Around the World in 80 Food Trucks. She's also written for the United Nations, the Australian Broadcasting Corporation, LexisNexis, the Australian Museum, the Age, Sydney Morning Herald, New Zealand Herald and the Bangkok Post.

 
 

Monique was the lead writer and project producer of the Creative Equity Toolkit, produced by Diversity Arts Australia in partnership with the British Council. This ground-breaking, action-oriented digital resource supports arts organisation to increase their cultural diversity.

Monique has a BA (Communications) from the University of Technology, Sydney and is an Accredited Editor with the Institute of Professional Editors. She has taught writing courses with the Council of Adult Education, and has worked with many writers to focus and develop their ideas through conversations and interviews. She has worked closely with writers published in the Harvard Business Review, Lonely Planet and Allen & Unwin, as well as authors writing their own books of history, memoir and personal empowerment.
